View employee's reporting structure

A well-defined and transparent reporting structure is important for ensuring clear lines of communication, accountability, creating a positive environment, and decision-making. It helps to establish roles and responsibilities, promote effective delegation, and ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

The Reporting Structure page in the greytHR Admin portal enables an overall view of the organization's hierarchy or an individual employee. You can also use the feature to move one or more employees within the hierarchy. The page enables you to download the organization's and employees' reporting structure.

You can perform the following actions on the Reporting Structure page:

  1. View an employee's reporting manager.

  2. View the organization's reporting structure.

  3. Assign a manager to an employee.

  4. Transfer employees to a manager in bulk.

  5. Assign a top-level manager.

To view the Reporting Structure page, click Employee > Main > Reporting Structure.

View an employee's reporting manager

To view the employee's reporting manager, perform the following actions:

  1. On the Reporting Structure page, from the Search Employee search box, search for the employee for whom you want to view the reporting manager.

  2. Under the Org Tree tab, the selected employee card appears and displays Joining Date, Department, Designation, and Manager.

View the organization's reporting structureΒ 

To view the organization's reporting structure, perform the following actions:Β 

  1. On the Reporting Structure page, click the Org Chart tab. The entire organization's reporting structure appears.

Note: You can also download the entire organization's reporting structure with the Export Excel button.

Assign a manager to an employee

You may need to assign a new manager to an employee for various reasons, such as organizational structure change or a manager resigning from the organization. To assign a manager to an employee, perform the following actions:

  1. On the Reporting Structure page, click Assign Manager. A form appears.

  2. In the Employee option, using the select an employee search box, search for the employee for whom you want to assign the manager.

  3. In the Reports To option, using the select an employee search box, search for the employee who you want to assign as the manager.

  4. Click the Assign Manager button to assign the manager for the selected employee.

Transfer employees to a manager in bulk

In some scenarios, you may need to transfer a complete team from one manager to a new manager. To transfer multiple employees to a new manager, perform the following actions:

  1. On the Reporting Structure page, click Mass Transfer. A form appears.

  2. In the Manager option, using the select an employee search box, search for the manager from whom you want to transfer the employees to another manager. The list of employees appears in the table.

  3. Select the checkbox against each employee as per your requirements.

  4. In the Transfer To option, using the select an employee search box, search for the new manager to whom you want to transfer the selected employees.

  5. Click the Transfer button to transfer the selected employees to the new manager.

Assign top-level manager

You can assign an employee as a top-level manager. The top-level management option helps you to assign the CEO or the head of the organization. To assign a top-level manager, perform the following actions:

  1. On the Reporting Structure page, click the Assign Top Level Manager icon. A form appears.

  2. In the Top Manager option, using the select an employee search box, search for the employee who will be top-level manager.

  3. Click Save to assign the selected employee as a top-level manager.
