Customise attendance labels for non-working days

Updated inย April - 2026 |ย Subscribe to watch greytHR how-to video

When employees work on scheduled non-working days Rest Days, Off Days, or Holidays, greytHR now lets organisations track and visually identify these instances across attendance screens and reports.ย

Using the Custom Attendance Labels feature, dedicated status tags such as WOP (Weekly Off, but Present), HOP (Holiday, but Present), or ROP (Rest Day, but Present) are displayed wherever an employee has worked on a non-working day.ย

For example, if an employee works on a public holiday, the label HOP appears against their attendance record, making such instances instantly identifiable for HR and payroll teams without the need for manual cross-referencing.ย

Use Cases

Worked on Holiday โ€” label as HOP An organisation wants to visually distinguish days where an employee worked on a public holiday. Once the label HOP (Holiday, but Present) is configured from the backend, it appears as a separate column in the Attendance Muster and Summary reports.

Worked on Off Day โ€” label as WOP An organisation uses WOP (Weekly Off, but Present) to flag employees who worked on their weekly off. Once configured, WOP appears in Attendance Info and relevant reports wherever OD is displayed as a distinct column.

Worked on Rest Day โ€” label as ROP A client requires Rest Day working to be tracked separately. The label ROP (Rest Day, but Present) reflects across all configured impact areas, giving reviewers a clear visual indicator during attendance review.

Additional Information

  • Custom labels are configured from the backend by the greytHR internal team. No admin UI action is required.

  • Labels directly reflect in attendance logic, payroll processing, and leave calculations for accurate downstream impact.

  • Labels take effect only when explicitly configured โ€” existing customers will see zero disruption until a label is set up.

  • If a custom label is not configured for a particular scenario, the system automatically uses the default attendance description.

  • Custom labels apply uniformly across all impact areas listed above. There is no per-report or per-department label configuration.

Note: To get custom labels configured for your organisation, raise a support ticket with the greytHR team.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Custom Attendance Labels feature in greytHR?ย

This feature introduces dedicated display labels for scenarios where employees work on Rest Days, Off Days, or Holidays. Labels such as HOP, WOP, and ROP appear across attendance screens and reports, making worked non-working day scenarios instantly identifiable for HR and payroll teams.

Do I need to configure anything from the admin portal?ย

No. Custom labels are configured entirely from the backend by the greytHR internal team. There are no UI steps required from the admin side. To get labels set up for your organisation, raise a support ticket.

Will custom labels affect attendance calculations, payroll, or leave?ย

Yes. Labels directly reflect in attendance logic, payroll processing, and leave calculations, ensuring accurate downstream impact once configured.

Will this affect our existing attendance setup?ย

No. Labels take effect only when explicitly configured from the backend. Existing customers will see no change until a label is set up for their organisation.

What happens if a custom label is not configured for a scenario?ย

The system falls back to the default attendance description from the attendance status table. No manual action is needed to maintain existing behaviour.

What are the custom attendance labels introduced for worked non-working days?

  • Custom attendance labels are used to identify employees who work on non-working days

  • Labels include examples such as HOP, WOP, and ROP

  • They help clearly distinguish such instances across attendance screens and reports

  • Labels are configured from the backend based on organisational requirements

Why don't custom labels appear in all reports?ย

Custom labels are displayed only in screens and reports where a separate status or label column is relevant. In reports like the Attendance Muster Report and Attendance Consolidate Report, the final status is shown without a separate label column.

Can different labels be configured for different departments or employee groups?ย

No. Custom labels apply uniformly across the organisation. There is no department-level or group-level label customisation.

How can I get custom attendance labels configured for my organisation?ย

Custom labels are configured from the backend by the greytHR internal team. To get this set up for your organisation, raise a support ticket with the greytHR team.ย

Can a custom label be removed once configured?ย

Yes. If a custom label is removed from the backend configuration, the system automatically falls back to the default attendance description. No manual correction to existing records is needed.ย
